The Swiss National Team U18 in training camp, in Bourgoin
The last U18s training camp which was held in Bourgoin (France) was very successful.
On Friday 22nd February, the Swiss National Team U18 travelled to Bourgoin, in France, for a National training camp. After a long bus trip, the U18 team and staff joined together on Friday evening in preparation for the upcoming match.
Saturday morning, the team was able to train in very good conditions, on the training pitch of the CSBJ. The training was then followed by a lunch at the Bourgoin tennis club with the team and all the staff, before the match.
As this was a training match, it was agreed by both teams that the match would be played in three sessions of 20/25 minutes, which would allow the coaches to effectively rotate the players giving them maximum playing time. After a beautiful afternoon of rugby, the final score was 54-7 for Bourgoin. Even if the score was high, it doesn’t reflect the great attitude of the Swiss players, who bravely defended Switzerland’s colours. The CSBJ organised a reception after the match, which was a great opportunity for the players to meet and exchange. This was then followed by an evening meal for all the team. The next morning there was a very positive debriefing session.
This camp was very successful for the U18 team and staff. The Swiss Rugby Union would like to thank all its generous donors and partners, in particular the company MAVALA, Main Partner of the National Team U18, and ANDROS, Development Partner associated with the National Junior Teams, without which this camp would not be possible.
The next meeting of the Swiss National U18s team will be held in Nyon on 16th March for a test match against the Czech Republic
You will find attached the list of the 24 players selected by the U18 staff.
