Veronika Muehlhofer joins World Rugby Council
Dublin, 15.05.2018 - Veronika Muehlhofer was inducted on May 15th as a council member of World Rugby, as the second representative for Rugby Europe, together with its president Octavian Morariu. Veronika’s appointment was most warmly welcomed by World Rugby as being in line with their strategic goal of improving gender diversity on what was up until today a 100% male council.
Veronika grew up in Lugano, Switzerland, and has a masters degree in sociology from Stanford University as well as a masters degree in Sports Management. She has 19 years of experience working in professional sports & event management, and over 20 years of experience in rugby as a player, coach, educator, and administrator. Besides being the CEO of the Swiss Rugby Union and serving on the Age-Grade, Development & Competitions Committee of Rugby Europe, she works as a consultant for major sporting events, her experience including five Olympic Games, the EPCR Champions and Challenge Cup, several different world championships, and the creation of the ice hockey Champions League.
Veronika was elected by the Board of Rugby Europe to join the council of the world governing body. Her position will be confirmed by the European organization’s General Assembly at their next meeting.
