Swiss Cup & FSR Cup Canceled for Season 2020-2021

Suisserugby takes difficult decision to cancel Cup Competitions, in order to prioritize Player welfare and National Championship Competitions
Zurich, 19/10/2020 - Due to the situation surrounding the coronavirus, and the many match postponements it has caused, the Central Committee (which includes the presidents of the Regional associations) has decided by electronic vote to cancel the Swiss Cup and FSR Cup Competitions for the season 2020-2021, with 1 vote against, and all others in favor. The Central Committee considered that, besides the health and safety of the teams and officials, priority should be given to the National Championships, over the Cup Competitions.
With this decision, some dates will be freed up to ensure postponed league games can take place, as well as to allow some teams to take a break, avoiding to force players to play 5, 6, 7 weekends in a row without any break, thereby endangering their welfare.

At the end of the fall season, the situation in the national championships will be re-evaluated, and if any fundamental modifications to the spring season are necessary, they will be put to an electronic vote by the clubs.
