Great Weekend for Development of Swiss Rugby
The weekend of October 15-16, 2016, marked a great weekend for the development of Swiss Rugby.
Nearly 600 young boys and girls, men and women, were involved in rugby activities on both ends of the country.
Saturday, Oct 15:
Avusy: Training camp for U17/U18 players – 42 boys present
Nyon: Training camp for U15/U16 players – 71 boys present
CERN: 1st ever FSR Junior Girls Camp for U15-U16-U17-U18 players – 34 girls present
CERN: 3rd women’s Development tournament for senior Women new to the game – 97 women present
Sunday, Oct 16:
Zug: Training camp for U17/U18 players – 27 boys present
Avusy: Rugby Schools Tournament for U6-U12 players – 300 kids present
“These numbers show that Swiss Rugby is going through an enormous development at this time” confirms Technical Director Sébastien Dupoux. “These initiatives are part of a plan which we have begun to implement in the last 2-3 seasons with the restructuring of the CTE (Schools Commission), the creation of the CTJ (Youth Commission), and more recently of the CTF (Women’s Commission). At the same time, we have continued to strengthen the high performance player pathway from U16 to seniors, which was implemented already by my predecessors”.
