New referees for the FSR!

The traditional start-to-season referee courses have been an outstanding success this season!
Indeed, two sessions were offered this year – one in Lausanne, the other in Basel – to provide the World Rugby Introduction to Refereeing course to future referees (MO L1).
World Rugby educators, Rachel Boyland and Yann Benoit, helped by an already licensed referee, Ashleigh Zambada, received no less than 28 candidates over these two days, an absolute record!
In addition to the impressive number of participants, it was their diversity that made educators proud:
- 9 women and 19 men
- 12 German and 16 French-speaking
- 4 young people (U14 / U16)
The course focused on the basics that the referee should take into account in preparing and managing their matches. After the discovery of the whistle and the signals, scenarios on the kickoffs, the knock-on / forward pass, the scrum, the lineout, the tackle, the ruck, the maul, the offside in open play, the advantage, the in-goal area and foul play have been proposed.
Lots of questions about the laws were also asked which made the days (very) intense!
Congratulation to: Agathe (Switzers), Morgane (ERL), Cynthia (RC Luzern), Mélissa (Redzones), Joyce (RC Konstanz), Theresa, Elena, Moira, Alexander and Pascal (RC Zug), Justine and Christophe (ASR Morges), Mickaël (RC Palézieux), Barry and Rob (RC Bagnes), Ben and Miguel (Stade Lausanne), Josué (RC Fribourg), Gwendal (GC Zürich), Laurent (RC Avusy), Matthias and Hugh (FSR), Amaury (GPLO) , Alessandro (Würenlos), Franck (Jura), Andreas (RC. The Referees Commission welcomes its new recruits and would like to warmly thank Stade Lausanne RC and RC Basel for making their infrastructure available for these courses.
The next sessions for beginners should take place before the 2nd part of the season starts (Feb or March 2021).
