Nier/Melville new Swiss National Team Coaches, Guyou new Manager
Lausanne, 14.10.2016 – Mathieu GUYOU will be the new manager and Olivier NIER and Eric MELVILLE will be the new coaches of the Swiss Men’s XVs Rugby National Team.
Olivier Nier, born on June 14th, 1964 in Grenoble, was the former coach of U.S. Oyonnax, and reached the French Pro D2 final with the club. He was also coach of Pays d’Aix Rugby Club, Rugby Club Massy Essonne, and of the Romanian National Team, with which he won the B-Group 6 Nations (ENC 1A) and qualified for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. He was also director of the “Centre de Formation” in Grenoble and then in Brive, and is Professor at the University of Lyon 1 in Values Management.
Eric Melville, bon on June 27th, 1961 on the Cape (South Africa), is a former south-African XVs rugby player, with French citizenship. He played for France as number 8. He was general manager of RC Toulonnais during the 2000-01 season, and later became coach at Oyonnax. In 2007 he became coach of Grasse, and then of Stade Dijonnais on 2010.
Mathieu Guyou, born on July 4th, 1975, is a former Swiss national team player. He played centre and has a record 47 caps for the Swiss National Team. He was the Team’s captain and later vice-captain, before retiring from international rugby in 2016.

After gaining promotion in April 2016 from Group 2A to group 1B of the European Nations Cup, Switzerland will now face Portugal and Moldova on November 19th and 26th, in the newly named Rugby Europe Trophy, in division 1B. Both matches will be held at the Municipal Football Stadium in Yverdon.
