Rule Changes for 2014-2015 Season
The FSR is implementing a number of Rule Changes for the 2014-2015 season:
To bring Switzerland back in line with the IRB, the Referee will no longer say “Yes 9” to indicate that the ball may be put into the scrum. The Referee will use a non-verbal indication.
Uncontested Scrums – LNA, LNB, LNC & LNF only
The FSR has implemented IRB law 3.5. (k). More details on this are below. The intention is that if a front row player cannot be replaced to ensure that scrums are contested, then that player may not be replaced, and the team continues with 1 fewer player.
Teams must not substitute (tactical or injury) front row players for non-front row players, if there are available front row players on the bench. Even when the scrum, is already un-contested.
Ball Out of Ruck
Following the IRB guidelines: The ball is not out of a ruck until the scrum half has picked the ball up from the ground.
