FSR Recourse Commission Rejects Appeal by GC Zurich on LNA Forfeit Decision
Zurich, 25.05.2017 - The recourse commission has rejected an appeal by GC against the Discipline Commission’s decision to declare the LNA match GC Zurich – Stade Lausanne a forfeit win to Stade Lausanne. Due to this forfeit, GC lost the points from the win (with bonus) as well as one more point in the ranking, therefore falling out of the playoffs and losing its spot in the semi-finals.
The Discipline commission’s original decision, sent on the afternoon of Monday, May 23rd, was based on Article 91 of the competition regulations, which does not allow a player to start for both the second team and the first team of his club on any given day. GC Zurich was found to be in violation of this rule. The Competition Regulations are voted into effect by all club presidents at the annual FSR Delegates’ Assemblies.
The Recourse Commission considered GC Zurich’s appeal against the original decision, and issued its verdict confirming the forfeit decision, based on that same article 91 of the regulations.
As a consequence, GC Zurich loses its spot in the LNA Semi-finals, and CERN MSG will take its place in the LNA Semi-final against Geneve Plan Les Ouates on Saturday, May 27th in Plan-Les-Ouates.
