Switzerlands Edelweis XV


2026 marks a historic milestone for Swiss rugby, with the Edelweiss XV competing in the Rugby Europe Championship (REC) for the second season. This placed Switzerland among the top tier of European nations outside the Six Nations. Drawing Pool A, Switzerland faced last the year before tough competition from Georgia, Spain and the Netherlands, gaining invaluable experience at the highest continental level.

The campaign concluded on a high note with two wins: against the Netherlands (29–23) in the pool stage and against Germany (35–25) in the ranking semi-final in Yverdon on 7 March 2026. At the Madrid Finals on 15 March, the team secured sixth place in the Championship, ensuring their position in this division for the 2027 season. This remarkable performance highlights the team's steady progress, with the team currently ranked 28th in the World Rugby Rankings.
