In addition to the face-to-face courses, Suisserugby also offers a vast number of online education options.
In collaboration with World Rugby and Rugby Europe, the Swiss Rugby Union encourages Players, Coaches, Educators, Match Officials, Parents, and all members of the Suisserugby family, to use these online learning tools to get educated on a range of topics.
World Rugby Passport is your gateway to the training and education web sites provided by World Rugby.
Registering for a World Rugby Passport provides you access to online accreditation on a range of topics from Law education to physical preparation. The majority of those resources are in English, French and Spanish, but some of the resources are translated in Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Romanian, etc.
There you will find over 32 online modules in multiple languages, all free of charge. Once registered you will be able to access all modules. Online modules support also face-to-face learning programmes and some must be completed before attending certain face-to-face courses.
The Rugby Ready program is intended to raise awareness of good practices and help stakeholders to manage the inherent risks of a contact sport by putting appropriate safeguards in place. The Rugby Ready web site is a powerful online resource where you can register and use it for free. You can use the site to build, refresh and test your knowledge of all physical aspects of the Game. Since its inauguration, Rugby Ready has established a strong profile as a leading global education resource for the game’s stakeholders in the important areas of match preparation, technique, injury prevention, management and discipline. The self-assessment program comprises 18 good-practice modules covering:
- Match preparation and physical conditioning
- Correct technique
- Injury prevention and management.
After completing the online Rugby Ready exam, you can download your personalized awareness certificate.
In this section, you can read the laws and watch explanatory video examples to build your understanding of how the laws are applied on the field of play. The laws are available in 12 languages.
Laws exam
The World Rugby Laws exam is available at the World Rugby online learning system After completing the World Rugby Laws exam, you can download your personalised awareness certificate. Registration is free and takes only a few minutes. This self-check multiple choice exam is a pre-requisite for many World Rugby and union-specific educational courses for referees, coaches and match management staff.
In the Coaching Section, you’ll find a range of resources to support you in your coaching, from online learning about aspects of coaching community forums, technical content and more. You will find 4 online modules – Coaching Children; Introduction in coaching; Key factors analysis; Functional role analysis.
The online modules in this strand aim to:
- introduce you to coaching
- help you understand the different roles and functions of players
- help you to break down the skills of the game into coachable Key Factors
- provide specific guidance for those of you who are coaching children.
Also, you will have access to a large Video library.
In this section, you will find a range of resources to support you in your officiating, from online learning aspects of officiating, community forums and more.

It is recommend that all Match Officials to complete the Introductory module prior to attending the face-to-face officiation courses.
