Course Details
- Duration: 1 day
- Open to: Any coaches, referees, educators, players, managers, administrators of Swiss Rugby clubs.
- Instructors: Patrice Philippe / Philippe Lüthi, World Rugby Coach Educators
- Certificate: World Rugby Strength and Conditioning Level 1
Prerequisites for the course
Candidates must complete the rugby ready module online and before the course (rugbyready.worldrugby.org).
Course Description
- Functional assessment:
How and with which tests to evaluate the players' skills. - General physical preparation:
Basic knowledge of physical preparation. Endurance-strength, endurance-speed. - Integrated physical preparation:
High intensity intervals, games on reduced ground, specific training circuits. - Manage the training programme:
Importance of needs analysis, monitoring and adaptation of workloads, conception of a 4-week training plan.

Course Description
- Physical preparation for positions:
Prepare players in a precise and detailed manner, according to the specific needs of the position they occupy. - Annual fitness planning:
Establish an annual organization that considers the preparation phases, the competition phases and the final phases. How do we do it? Consider which priority and/or secondary aspects. - Answers to coaches' questions:
On their modes of operation, on the difficulties encountered and/or other.
Each session consists of the following elements:
- General warm-up
- Athletic ranges (running)
- Speed
- Technical skills (ball in hand)
- Muscle Strength
- Conditioning
- Stretching
