SAVE THE DATE: Fixtures Rugby Europe Championship 2025
The Rugby Europe Championship 2025 fixture list has been confirmed. Switzerland will play their only home game against Spain at the Stade Municipal in Yverdon-les-Bain on 9 February.
Rugby Europe has confirmed the European qualification process for Rugby World Cup 2027. There will be 24 teams at the next Rugby World Cup, with four teams automatically qualifying from the Men's Rugby Europe Championship and the fifth-placed team qualifying for the World Rugby Repechage tournament (November 2025).
The 2025 competition will be a one-off qualifier for the Rugby World Cup (unlike before). The eight nations have been divided into two pools (A & B) using a serpentine system based on the results of the previous two seasons.

The semi-finals will take place on 1-2 March with the competition coming to a crescendo on 16 March for the four final games.
These 20 games will be played throughout February and March 2025 and will consist of the following format.
- First and third of each pool will earn the right to host a semi-final on the weekend of 1 st and 2 nd of March. Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday can be considered for scheduling matches, with Rugby Europe coordinating and ensuring that no match will overlap.
- For the Final Round (Final matches for 1st place, 3 rd place, 5 th place and 7th place) the best ranked team of the pool phase involved in each of the “Final” will have the right to host its Final Match on the weekend of March 14-15-16, 2025
While 2025 will be the only year qualifying for Rugby World Cup 2027, the promotion- and relegation system for REC will still run across two years, using the combined results of 2025 and 2026.
With Poland finishing in eighth place during the REC23-24 cycle they have been relegated to Trophy division with Switzerland earning their spot in the top-flight after coming out on top overall during the Men’s Trophy 23-24 tournaments.
