Rugby Europe Men's Trophy - The Swiss national rugby team was unable to repeat its success of February 2020 and was defeated by the German national rugby team on 19 March 2022 at the Sportzenrum Martinsee as part of the Rugby Europe Men's Trophy 2021/ 2022.

Saturday, March 19th, 2022 - Sportzentrum Martinsee / Heusenstamm (Germany)

Hopes for a Swiss victory over the German Black Eagles were high after the win against leaders Belgium on March 12, 2022 - and were unfortunately disappointed. Despite two tries by winger Hugo Maylon in the 23rd and 34th minute, beautiful game sequences in front of almost 1000 spectators and a final try by William Meyer in the last minute of the game, the Edelweis national team couln't defeat the team of the German Rugby Federation this time and lost by 25:34

The Swiss Men's National Team is now in 4th place in the Rugby Europe Trophy, ahead of Ukraine and Lithuania. The leaders of the table are currently Belgium, followed by Poland and Germany.

Congratulations to team captains Cyril LIN who played his 40th cap in Heusenstamm!
